Sang's return to Canada

This visit was because of very timely gifts from Brneyestoo and B_cat who
a) thought like we did in that I'd be moving sooner than later and b) who wanted another visit with Sang.  MEGATHANKS you two!!

Nov. 26/98 saw me, once again, heading down to Detroit Metro Airport as Sang made her return to Canada for our 5th visit.   This trip was a lot less 'adventurous' than the one a year before as the chariot decided to keep it's fluid in it's various containers, rather than boil it out in the parking garage. LOL!

After picking her up, we headed back across Windsor's Ambassador Bridge.  We got directions for the newly constructed Casino Windsor and, after meandering past it, found our way to a Tim Horton's Donuts so Sang could once again revel in a nice steamy hot cuppa before we returned to the casino to lose our money.....er...I mean, try our luck.  We each had one of their combo meals which consists of a sandwich on fresh baked buns, soup and coffee.

After recharging...Sang hadn't eaten anything since leaving home that morning....we headed over to the Casino.  While I've never been to Vegas, I think I'm safe in saying that Casino Windsor is a lot more understated in it's decor.  It was nice, but a bit noisy for my tastes.

We'd agreed to take only $25 Cdn. each, into the casino and only stay as long as that lasted.  Figuring it "might" last us as long as an hour, we were pleasantly surprised when we actually stretched our playing time out to almost an hour and twenty minutes.  We did a lot of giggling and headed out to the chariot, talking about the possibility of us visiting an honest-to-goodness Riverboat casino some day, after I've moved.

It was still fairly early, but with darkness fast approaching, we speedily made our way back to St. Thomas.

Once again, my employer was more than cooperative with my request for time off while Sang was visiting.  I only had to work 1 session on the Friday and had the rest of the time for Sang.

The Friday night saw me getting home from work, grabbing a fast shower and the two of us bebopping into London.  On the card was a get together with online friends we both knew.

We arrived at Eastown Pizza's London-south location.  Waiting for us were Brneystoo, lil_devil, Mebarneyrubble, all from London, and Sirluvsalot from Ohio.  Sir's been at a bunch of our get togethers after the initial meet at Indy in Sept. '97.

Eastown specializes in pizzas that are NOT run of the mill.  After gorging ourselves on a large Mona Lisa and large BBQ Chicken pizza, Pagefour joined us after a delayed trip down from eastern Ontario.  After dinner, 'barney, Sir and lil_devil headed off to get into mischeif with Brneyes and Page.  We headed back to home base for the night.

Saturday morning, after a few inroads were made on our consciousness by the telephone, a late breakfast was to be had at Chez Tucker with a longtime friend of M-t's, Paco.  Sang and Paco enjoyed coffee and conversation in the sitting room while M-t whipped up Eggs ala Tucker in the galley.  Slowly but surely, Sang is being convinced that REAL Canadian Bacon (not that pressed ham sold in the States as "Canadian Style Bacon") is superior to just about any other breakfast meat on the planet.  Now, to find a butcher in Kansas who can follow the dotted lines on Mr. Porky to produce the stuff.... hmmmm...This could be problematic!

After our brunch, more conversation, and much more coffee, Paco headed out.  We spent the balance of the daytime puttering around the St. Thomas area and then came home to prepare for the pre-Christmas party at the Tucker abode.  Christmas lights had been tested and strung around the room for a festive atmosphere, and there were tidbits to be put into bowls and on plates.  Sang had brought a bag of Gardetto's Snack Mix from the States with her, parts of which were a hit, but many agreed that the little butterfly crisps are much too hard and crunchy.  M-t's partial to a similar concoction in Canada called Bits and Bites.  When he moves Stateside, he'll likely have to adjust to Chex Mix as a reasonable substitute.  LOL!

Saturday night saw us get together with much the same group as the night before.  Sir ended up leaving for Ohio, later on the Friday night.  He'd been hit by the flu and figured that if he was going to die, home was the place to do it. LOL!!

B_cat motored down from Simcoe for the evening and joined me, Sang, Brneyestoo, Pagefour, and Mebarneyrubble for a general yakfest mixed in with a few drinks and tunes.   There was a phone call placed to Jhono in Las Vegas, and the cordless phone was passed around the room so that all could say their hello's.  B_cat took off with the phone for quieter surroundings, because the partiers were being quite happily noisy.  She ended up sitting at M-t's computer desk while talking, and began to idly look around the room.  Inspiration hit her, while eyeing the longhorns on the wall above the computer, and the leftover Christmas lights that were on the bed.  Consequently, the horns were lit with a string of indoor/outdoor bulbs.  This may have to be a "tradition" continued in the future Tucker Household!  (After what we thought was a reasonable amount of time, Sang went in to where B_cat was and "sanitized the phone" while she was still talking to Jhono. LMAO!!)

After calling it a night, everyone headed to their respective beds and B_cat returned for breakfast the next morning. [note from Sang:  YAY! More Eggs ala Tucker!  Tho M-t is an excellent cook, I see us with many years of working on our self-control when it comes to food...we both like to spoil each other terribly!]

After seeing B off, Sang and I headed over to Stratford to give her a tour of the town, and her first meeting of my sister.
. o O (YOU try explaining to your 50+ yr old sister that you met your fiancee over the Internet!).  We headed back home later that afternoon and spent a quiet evening watching movies.

Monday saw us once again heading for Detroit Metro.  Needless to say, the mood was rather somber and the drive back was reeeeally quiet for me. I don't even remember turning on the radio.

"Seeya laters" never seem to get any easier, even with lots of practice.
